A contract for Morpho Detection with the spanish operator Aena, S.A.
Morpho (Safran), through its subsidiary Morpho Detection, today announced a contract from Spain national airport operator Aena, S.A. to supply and service 290 Itemiser® 4DX detectors.
Following competitive operational testing closely supported by local partner Alava Ingenieros, Itemiser 4DX was selected to meet the requirements of new EU legislation for enhanced screening of passengers at more than 20 airports throughout Spain. Building on 15 years of Itemiser systems reliably protecting travelers at leading global aviation hubs, Itemiser 4DX quickly detects and identifies threats on skin, clothing, carried items, bags, vehicles and other surfaces.

Optimized for ease-of-use and mobility, Itemiser 4DX eliminates the administrative, regulatory, storage and shipping requirements associated with a radiation-emitting detection source. By leveraging long-life consumables and internal calibration, Itemiser 4DX seeks to minimize operational costs for airports and air cargo facilities, law enforcement agencies and government and critical infrastructure installations.
Currently approved for passenger and cargo screening throughout European Civil Aviation Conference's (ECAC) 44 member nations, approximately 900 Itemiser 4DX have been shipped to airports throughout Europe. More than 23,000 Morpho threat detectors have been supplied to airports, air cargo facilities, law enforcement agencies and secure locations worldwide.
