Airport as the international gate to a city is becoming a symbol for many of them. Architects and designers  must  therefore balance between the aesthetic of the airport shell and the technical characteristics of its facilities and equipment. More and more, the issue of sustainable development features also heavily in decisions about location of the facilities, architectural designs of airports, as well as in the choice of which construction materials. When sustainable development informs the choice of technical solutions, it can improve the quality of the airport as a whole and make them more comfortable and safer for users.

The airport terminal is an area of interconnection between ground and air transportation modes. The  terminal building comprises public areas for passenger circulation, services, and waiting rooms with seats and chairs, airline ticket counters, baggage check-in, flight information display system. Public circulation areas include stairways, escalators, elevators, and travelators. The  baggage facility is a nonpublic area for sorting and processing baggage for departing flights and transfer. • AIR SAFETY EQUIPMENT & SERVICES
The safety of airports and  airport operations requires air traffic control equipment such as radar or multilateration sensors, aircraft rescue and firefighting , the mitigation of wildlife hazards.  It also encomprises installation of  meteorological equipment such as airport weather observation station AWOS and of electrical and visual air navigational aids such as  lights, signs, ILS, VOR, DME… Among key navigational aids are primary and secondary radars and visual aids located in the pavement of runways and taxiways. These airfield lighting and taxiway lighting are needed for landing, rollout, take-off, ground movement, traffic control and exits from runways, apron guidance and docking of the aircraft.

  • Ramp & Ground Support EquipmentRAMP & GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT
GSE is there to support the operations of aircraft on the ground. It involves ground power, aircraft mobility, and loading operations for both cargo and passengers. Passengers can board aircraft using aircraft stairs or mobile passenger stairs. At more active airports, the use of passenger loading bridges is becoming common. Providing a fixed ground power unit and preconditioned air for each gate position is highly recommended for environmental issue. Fueling and power systems are fixed utilities located at aircraft parking. The main advantage of underground hydrant system is the reduction of ground support equipment servicing the aircraft on the parking.
