December 2006

 

* ADPI has won an international contract for the supervision and management of
development projects for the two main airports of the Sultanate of Oman: Seeb-Muscat and Salalah. ADPI's mission will last four years. The amount of the contract stands at 7.6 million Omani riyals (about US$ 20 million).
The development project of Seeb airport aims at expanding the airport capacity to reach 12 million passengers in four years' time. The project includes a new terminal, a new runway and a new control tower as well as cargo and maintenance facilities. The development project of Salalah airport concerns the cargo activity and the construction of a new terminal to handle 2 million passengers. The opening of all these new facilities is planned for November 2010.

 

* A new trial, called 'miSense', was launched at Heathrow Airport's Terminal 3 today. MiSense uses the latest biometric technologies to simplify a passenger's journey through the airport while further strengthening levels of security.
Sagem Défense Sécurité
is proud to be part of the miSense trial by supplying most of the biometric technology of this project: fingerprint, face and iris recognition software, ICAO smart-cards, fingerprint scanners including portable devices and fake finger detection. Participating in this trial has strengthened Sagem Défense Sécurité already large experience in airport passenger processing including automated border control systems such as the IRIS system. IER is also a partner of the miSense trial.

 

* Thales, Airservices Australia and SITA today congratulated Indonesia on the successful launch of an ADS-B trial to enhance airspace safety across the archipelago.
During the trial the ADS-B traffic data will be displayed in the Jakarta and Makassar Air Traffic Control (ATC) Centres where it may be viewed by air traffic controllers.
The trial involves the deployment of three Thales ADS-B ground receivers which are linked by SITA communications links and surveillance processors to Indonesia’s control centres in Jakarta and Makassar. Airservices provides project and technical support and a remote monitoring capability.

 

* During the five past months, Travelsky, provider of information technology solutions for China's air industries, has ordered from IER a total of twenty four IER 978 kiosks in order to quickly implement Common Use Self-Service check-in services in Chinese airports. Sixteen of them have been deployed already.
All the check-in kiosks ordered are full Common Use Self-Service kiosks, designed to accommodate multiple airlines. For now, up to twelve Chinese national airlines are accessible on line to the e-ticketed travellers in four airports across the country. Two kiosks were deployed a Kunming Airport (Yunnan Province), three at Qingdao Airport (Shandong Province) and another three at Haikou Airport (Hainan Province). Eight kiosks are installed at Beijing Capital International Airport. Six of them are dedicated to Air China and two to China Eastern.

 

* Hub télécom launches 3 new products :
- Hub Event, a solution allowing exhibitors to collect and recover data about the visitors they meet at a show using a badge reader incorporated in a WiFi PDA. After each meeting, the data collected is transmitted in real time to an Internet space accessible only to the exhibitor and is kept on the PDA for greater security.
- LANissimo, a highly secure broadband interconnection service for local area networks allowing the broadband interconnection of local area networks (LANs) on the various sites of a single company.
- AéroTV, a system enabling hotels and conference centers in the Paris region to display real time information on flights to and from Paris-Orly and Paris-Charles de Gaulle airports.

November 2006

 

* Alcatel has been awarded a contract to implement an IP communications solution for the Department of Civil Aviation in Dubai for the new Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport. Dubai International Airport is one of the fastest growing airports in the world, recording 21.33 million passengers between January and September 2006 with a growth of more than 15% annually. Alcatel will initially supply a VoIP solution for 16,000 users, and will be completed in line with the new terminal inauguration, which is expected in late 2007.

 

* IER introduces a completely new range of Common Use Self-service kiosks designed to meet the latest trends in passenger travel such as e-ticketing, 2D barcoded boarding passes, the ability to read e-passports and to check-in passengers with or without bags. The new IER 918 is the most compact size kiosk on the market offering maximum functionality and flexibility to provide airlines and airports with the most efficient and easy to use self-service check-in kiosk.

 

* Thales and Civil Aviation Air Traffic Control Technology Equipment Development Co. Ltd (TEDC) today signed an agreement for the creation of a joint venture (40-60) in the field of air traffic control. Based in Beijing, the JV will develop, sell and maintain air traffic control centres derived from technology inherited from Thales, predominantly in China.
The creation of this JV ensures the continuity of the NESACC programmes, which are aimed at expanding and modernizing the air traffic control systems in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.

 

* Thales ATM Pty Ltd has been awarded a contract by the Air Navigation and Weather Services of the Civil Aeronautics Administration of Taiwan for the supply of a fully integrated nationwide Air Traffic Management System. Thales will supply its EUROCAT system for the 2 integrated en-route and approach atc centres, simulation capabilities, a software development environment and positions in 11 ATC towers. Included in the contract is the provision of a fully integrated Aeronautical Information Service System and a Digital Voice Communication Switching System.

 

* easyJet awarded Penauille Servisair contract renewal to provide ground services at Bristol International Airport. easyJet currently bases nine A319 aircraft at the airport.

 

* Nordic Aero, an aviation service company operating in 19 Nordic airports and in charge of all handling at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, has just ordered 20 IER 978 self-service kiosks to be deployed in several terminals at Arlanda. In Stockholm, IER has already deployed, in 2006, 15 CUSS self-service kiosks at Skavsta Airport.

* In 2005 and 2006, IER was awarded major contracts in Turkey for both self-service kiosks and counter equipment. In 2005, Turkish Airlines awarded IER a contract for 10 IER 978 kiosks which were successfully deployed and installed all over Turkey in 2005. More recently, we have equipped five major airports with ATB (IER 567) and bag tag (IER 506) printers as well as boarding gate readers (IER627BC). The concerned airports are: Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya (new terminal) and Dalaman for a total quantity exceeding 1,500 units .

October 2006

 

* Alstef supplies the baggage handling system for the AIR FRANCE new regional terminal at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. The Baggage Handling System of the T2G terminal is built on two levels and allows the 100% baggage screening and the sortation of bags coming from one of the 12 check-in desks. The final sortation is done on a loading line which serves 24 sorting destinations. The baggage handling system for the arrival hall is composed of two deposit lines for “in gauge” bags and two reclaim carrousels plus one deposit line for “out of gauge” bags.

 

* Two new contracts for Sides in Asia.
After successful delivery of 2 Airport vehicles last month in Cambodia for Phnom Penh and Siem Rieap, SCA, the airports Company Manager of Cambodia, has decided to acquire an additional Sides truck type VMA 70 for Sihanoukville Airport, to be delivered in December 2006.
In Japan, Sides successfully delivered the first Sides crash tender type VMA 135 at Kansaï Airport.

 

* Proavia exhibits at AIRPORT EXCHANGE held in Madrid, Spain from October 9 to 11. On this occasion, Jacques Lafay, President of Proavia, makes a conference about e-sourcing, giving the opinion of the French airport equipment suppliers regarding e-commerce (Oct.10 th, 13:30, Supplier relations Conference Session).

 

* Penauille Servisair signed a 3-year ground handling agreement with Mexicana for services at Miami International Airport. Penauille Servisair currently provides ground handling services at Vancouver and Dallas Fort Worth for Mexicana.

Air Canada awarded Penauille Servisair a contract to provide ground handling services at Miami, Orlando International, Ft Myers and Sarasota airports.

September 2006

 

* Proavia attended INTERAIRPORT CHINA 2006 in Beijing on the French Pavillion organized by Ubifrance. French companies Thales, Sagem DS, Cnim, Caddie, Ulmer Aéronautique, Tld, Logan-Teleflex, FB Technology and Stratime Composites Systèmes were also exhibiting. PROAVIA welcomed on its stand delegations from Chengdu, Kunming, Xian and Hangzhou. On this occasion, PROAVIA also organized a trade mission and visited Guangzhou and Shenzhen airports.

* Monarch Airlines awarded Penauille Servisair a 3-year contract to provide ground handling services at Dublin, Cork, Shannon and Belfast airports.

August 2006

 

* The OPAIN consortium, including ADPI as technical assistant, won the concession to operate Bogota’s international airport, El Dorado. The concession is planned for twenty years and includes an investment programme of nearly 650 million USD.
Based on a technical assistance for design agreement signed with the OPAIN consortium, ADPI will be responsible for:
- preliminary studies for the whole airport planning project,
- detailed studies of the terminals (passengers and freight).
This agreement will run for three years and is worth 14.3 million USD.
The development project for El Dorado airport includes the renovation (or reconstruction) of an existing passenger terminal covering 60,000 m², as well as the construction of a new passenger terminal covering 80,000 m². A new freight terminal covering 43,000 m² will also be built and 330,000 m² of runways, taxiways and parking areas will be laid.

 

* Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic awarded Thales a contract to supply a complete set of navigation aids, training services and test equipment. These systems will be installed at Prague Ruzyne International and other Czech airports.

July 2006

 

* Aéroports de Paris Management has won a contract to manage the new passenger terminal at Algiers ‘Houari Boumédienne Airport’, which has an annual capacity of 5 million passengers.

 

* Abu Dhabi Airports Company awarded Aéroports de Paris Ingénierie a contract to design and construct a new 110-metre high Air Traffic Control Complex at Abu Dhabi International Airport, scheduled for completion by April 2008.

 

* Warsaw International will install Tilt Tray Sorters from Logan Teleflex to handle domestic and international baggage for a new HBS system in Terminal 2. The Tilt Tray Sorters will sort baggage conveyed from 60 three-stage check-in counters. In addition to the Departures system, Logan Teleflex is also supplying an Arrivals system in the form of 5 collection carousels in the arrivals lounge– and a link conveyor.

 

* Etihad Airways awarded Penauille Servisair a multi-year ground handling contract at London Gatwick Airport.

 

* IER - the leading supplier of passenger and baggage processing solutions in the air transport - has been selected to equip the Doha International Airport company with check-in and boarding equipment. The recent purchase order includes more than a hundred products selected in the IER solution range for passenger check-in, baggage tag printing and boarding control. The latest IER models: IER 567, IER 506 printers and IER 627 reader have been chosen to complete the existing installed base at Doha airport.

June 2006

 

* Chile's Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil awarded Thales a USD6 million contract to replace the primary radars at Puerto Montt and Punta Arenas stations and supply a new secondary surveillance radar at Punta Arenas.

* Airservices Australia signed a contract with Thales to replace radars at Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Cairns, Coolangatta and Canberra airports. The project will commence in 2007.

 

* Lufthansa awarded Penauille Servisair a three-year contract to provide ground handling services at London Heathrow Airport, effective 01-Jul-06.

* Penauille Servisair Cargo opened a new 8000sqm warehouse facility at London Heathrow Airport. Singapore Airlines will commence operating at the facility on July 06, while Emirates SkyCargo and SriLankan Cargo will commence on August 06.

* Penauille Servisair Finland and Turkish Airlines commenced a comprehensive ground handling agreement at Helsinki Vantaa International Airport.

 

* Bristol International Airport awarded STERIA a five-year GBP6 million contract to operate the airport's IT infrastructure and business applications.

 

* Proavia was in India from May 29th to June 3rd with French company CADDIE. They held meetings with Airport Authorities of India (AAI) and private consortia in charge of operating Delhi, Bombay and Hyderabad airports.

* IER, the leading supplier of passenger and baggage processing solutions in the air transport, was awarded a 5-year renewal contract for the maintenance of the check-in and boarding equipment deployed at Kuwait International Airport. This workshop repair maintenance contract comes after a large order placed in December 2005 for over 400 equipment, including IER 567 boarding pass printers, IER 506 bag tag printers, IER 627 Bar Code boarding gate readers.

 

* ICAO has endorsed the use of face recognition as the globally interoperable biometrics technology for machine assisted identity confirmation with machine readable travel documents. Contributing to simplifying passengers' travel and complying with airports authorities’ safety and security requirements, IER has already integrated the new functionalities to be implemented in airport check-in and boarding solutions. Thus, IER's self check-in kiosks will integrate e-passport readers compatible with the new standards.

 

* Airport Build & Supply Exhibition 2006 took place in Dubai - UAE, from June 5th to 7th 2006.
* IER, world leading provider of the major transportation networks for ticketing, check-in and boarding solutions, presented on this occasion it solutions dedicated to safely and rapidly process passengers and their baggage at airports.
* HUB TELECOM, the telecom service provider for complex sites,attended "Airport Show Build & Supply" on stand F16. Hub télécom showcased its VoIP and GSE tracking system offers.

May 2006

 

* Proavia and its local consultant organized a collective trade mission in Moscow with French companies CNIM, THALES, CIAT, CADDIE and SAGEM DS from May 15 to 19. They had meetings with the Airport Department of Russian Civil Aviation authorities and Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo airports authorities.

 

* Penauille Servisair signed a network partner agreement with Goldair, a Greek independent ground-handling company. The agreement will enable Penauille to offer services at five Greek airports, including Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Rhodes and Corfu.

 

* Thales delivered a complete Eurocat Air Traffic Management (ATM) system to the Vietnam Civil Aviation Administration. The system includes the full suite of approach, en-route and tower positions and will be used to control all traffic in the Ho Chi Minh Flight Information Region.

* Thales delivered significant software enhancements incorporating fully integrated Automatic Dependant Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B) processing functionality and display capabilities for The Australian Advanced Air Traffic System (TAAATS). Airservices Australia has now completed commissioning of this enhanced version of TAAATS which supports the deployment of ADS-B ground stations across Australia.

 

* Madrid Airport’s new Terminal 4 chose IER for the supply of document printing solutions for passenger check-in process. Over 900 IER 567 boarding pass printers, IER 508 bag tag printers, and IER 627BC boarding gate readers now equip the new check-in counters and gates, and 52 IER CUSS kiosks have been deployed for the selfservice automated check-in operations, which make Madrid-Barajas Terminal 4 one of the largest CUSS airports in Europe.

* Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia is preparing for a massive expansion in passenger traffic. In anticipation, KLIA has started an upgrade of its whole IT infrastructure, including its CUTE check-in workstations for which IER equipment has been selected by SITA. IER will supply over 420 IER567 ATB boarding pass printers as well as IER 627 boarding pass readers. The deployment on site was scheduled for the end of March 2006.

* Keflavik Airport in Iceland, also has selected the IER CUSS kiosk solution to provide selfservice check-in to its passengers. Eight IER 978B kiosks will be deployed during the second quarter of 2006 at the Leifur Eiriksson Air Terminal.

* Travelsky, provider of information technology solutions for China's air industries, has ordered from IER five IER 978 kiosks that will be deployed in Shenzhen, Xi’an, and Beijing airports. The Travelsky DCS will at first be available on-line on these kiosks for domestic flights. Travelsky is developing its CUSS-compatible application, using for this development the toolkit provided by IER, in order to make the kiosks available to Chinese airlines serving foreign destinations as well.

April 2006

 

* Proavia went to China from April 16 to 26 and met airport authorities in Beijing, Xian, Hangzhou, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The trade mission was organized by Proavia's office in Beijing.

* Penauille Servisair is extending its cooperation with the Royal Air Maroc Group by assisting the Moroccan airline at Paris CDG. Already served by Penauille Servisair in Paris Orly, the RAM Group is confirming its confidence with the leading global operator in aviation ground services.

 

* Thales - Irish Aviation Authority (Ireland), the LF Group (Sweden) and Naviair (Denmark) signed a contract with Thales ATM to facilitate joint upgrades to their existing common Air Traffic Management systems.

 

* Servair opened its ‘Base Handling' in Roissy on April 12. Base Handling is a logistics platform for refuelling short and medium haul passenger aircraft with less than 100 seats. This new unit boasts an operating surface of 1600 sq.m. meant to optimise workflow. Base Handling has 80 employees and handles an average of 115 flights per day.

 

* For many years, IER has been involved with IATA in creating the CUSS standard. IER is the only provider to offer a fully operational CUSS platform comprising all key elements: self-service kiosks, software and associated services. Radio Frequency is considered as the best solution to significantly improve operations and reduce costs in baggage handling. With its ten-year experience in RFID, IER has developed a total RFID solution, totally compliant with the IATA recommended practice and the EPC Gen2 protocol.

* Automated border control is now possible thanks to the SNG 770, an automated portal designed by IER Group member Automatic Systems, of Belgium. The SNG 770 includes impervious physical obstacles and high-security biometric identification systems. It filters each passenger and guarantees that each person transiting from a public area towards a secure area is duly authorised to enter it, thus eliminating annoying waiting times associated with manual immigration procedures while preserving a high level of safety.

* Proavia celebrated its 30th birthday in March 2006 on the occasion of "Passenger Terminal Expo 2006" in Paris.

* Penauille Servisair, the leading global operator in aviation ground services, is handling the Spanish airline company Vueling at Paris CDG since March, 26th, 2006.

February 2006

 

* Alstef Automation will provide the Emirates flight crew Baggage Handling System in their new Dubai headquarters building. Based on Destination Coded Vehicle technology, the system uses Bag-Nav for system management and control.
Under the EUR 10 million contract, ALSTEF will install the system on four floors of the Dubai building. The first-floor departures level BHS consists of eight self check-ins.
The system is designed to handle up to 1280 bags/hour, corresponding to 40 flights/hour each way.

* TAV, operator of Istanbul-Atatürk Airport, recently placed two orders with Alstef for Hold Baggage Screening systems. The first order is for a major upgrade of the international terminal Baggage Handling System. This involves integration into the existing system of 8 Explosives Detection System and 5 tomography machines. The baggage sorting capacity will be increased through the installation of a 5000 bags/h sorter, with 44 destination chutes. Installation is scheduled to be completed by the end of December 2006.
For the domestic terminal departures, Alstef will supply and install 80 check-in desks with scales for insize baggage, 4 scales for oversize baggage, an integrated screening system with two PEDS and one tomography machine, and 2 65-m horizontal sorting carrousels. For arrivals, the company will supply 5 63-m baggage delivery carrousels, and 2 delivery lines for oversize baggage. The system is scheduled to be completed in time for the 2006 summer season.

January 2006

* Continental has chosen Servair and its network of partners(*) to provide catering services on its European flights and in certain US stopover points. Servair, which already provided cleaning services on these flights, will handle the three daily flights from Paris, while Alpha Inflight Services will be in charge of services at the Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Amsterdam and Belfast airports.
Elsewhere in Europe, Servair Airchef will provide services for flights out of Rome while across the Atlantic, catering will be handled by the Flying Food Group, at the Miami, Orlando, Dallas, Seattle and Chicago airports.
(*)Servair's network of partners is made up of Alpha Flight Services (UK), Flying Food Group (USA) and Servair Airchef (Italy). It has over 100 locations worldwide.

 

* CAAC has completed the implementation of Thales’ Eurocat air traffic management system at Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The North East and South Area Control Centre contract was awarded to Thales in Sep-01. The new system controls up to 60% of air traffic in China.
