* Caddie has again been awarded the contract to supply airport trolleys to Vnukovo Airport in Moscow. This is the third contract since 2004 for a total of 500 carts. The cart selected is our AR-460 model with braking mechanism.

 

* Royal Air Maroc (RAM) chooses Hub télécom to develop Wifi at the Casablanca Mohamed V Airport (Morocco). This three-year contract comprises the deployment and installation of a Wifi network, and is operated with an indoor and outdoor authentication server, enabling air and freight applications to be used. The 30 external access points will enable RAM to use a baggage reconciliation system designed to optimize, track and guarantee efficient management of airport users' baggage.

 

* Since 1 December, ACNA, a SERVAIR subsidiary specialized in airport logistics and cleaning, has provided cleaning services for the two daily Paris – Dubai flights on EMIRATES. This contract will be valid for a 2-year period.

 

* Eurocontrol awarded THALES a contract for the installation of five multi-channel Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) receiving and Traffic Information Service Broadcast (TIS-B) transmitting systems. The equipment would be installed in France, Italy, Greece, Cyprus and Portugal, and would contribute to Eurocontrol’s Cascade Programme to increase safety and efficiency in European airspace.

November 2005

 

* Servair announces the repurchase of a 540 sqm unit at Ouagadougou international airport, Burkina Faso. This unit, named OKS, is 100% owned by Servair. With 44 staff, the unit will produce up to 1000 meal-trays per day and, initially, will serve Air France and Air Burkina. OKS is the seventh Servair location in Africa, after Bamako, Libreville, Djibouti, Dakar, Lomé and Nouakchott. With this new unit, Servair is carrying out its strategic ambition to grow on the African continent.

 

* ALCATEL announced that the Orlando International Airport, the fourth largest origin and destination airport in the U.S. - the 14th largest airport in the U.S. - has deployed a range of Alcatel's wireless and wired networking products, creating a reliable and secure carrier-class network for employees and airlines, while enabling wireless Internet access for travelers. GOAA's network managers can now monitor network activity from a single platform, while a diverse group of users, including airport staff from 60-plus airlines and over 32 million travelers each year, can have secure connections.

* CS Communications & Systèmes delivered a new ATM System for Airport Operations in Toulon-Hyères Airport. This Airport Center manages 40.000 flights per year, including regular flights, on-demand flights, naval aircrafts and helicopters, Coast Guard and fire support missions. The Airport Operations Center includes :
- an approach room with seven operator positions,
- a tower with four operator positions,
- an aeronautical information office
- a meteorological office.
Regional Airports are disseminated widely on territory and are facing new challenges such as more complex aeronautical context and air traffic growth with low-cost operators. Therefore, it is necessary to develop new equipments to cope with these new requirements in order to comply with safety and efficiency.
System proposed by CS is the fruit of a development taking in account the future airspace management as defined in the Single European Sky (SES) initiative and the Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) process promoted by Airport experts. The design is based on a Network Centric approach, providing an improved information sharing supported by IP Technology.
The main features are :
- a new Human System Interface,
- a new Air Situation Visualization Display,
- the link with both civil ACC and military ARS,
- a Voice Communication System (VCS) with access to remote transceivers.
The system is already used on Nîmes-Garons Airport since two years.

 

InterAirport Munich 2005* For the 4th time, PROAVIA exhibited on the French Pavilion at InterAirport Munich from October 11 to 14th. Around 40 French companies were present at this exhibition among which the following Proavia's members : Alpha-Cim, Augier, Caddie, FB Technology, Hub Telecom, Sagem, Sides, Sovam, Stratime Composite Systemes, Thorn, TLD.

 

* Mexico's Air Navigation Authority, SENEAM, awarded Thales a contract for the supply of two air traffic control centres as part of the ongoing nationwide ATM modernisation programme, making Mexico one of the most advanced countries in ATM ground installations and services in Latin America. Thales will supply two fully integrated Eurocat ATM systems including one area control centre to be located in Monterrey, (Nuevo León), and one approach control centre to be located in Chihuahua.

September 2005

 

* In a recent contract award, IER has been selected to equip the new Bangkok International Airport with ticketing and boarding equipment. The purchase order, placed by SITA INC includes more than 1,000 products selected in the IER solution range for passenger check-in, baggage tag printing and boarding control.
This new airport is now under construction and will become operational during the first half of 2006. It should quickly reach a 50 million passengers/year traffic, which would make it one of the biggest international airports of Asia.

 

* AIR TAHITI NUI and NORTHWEST AIRLINES renew their trust in SERVAIR
Servair provides the catering and cleaning services for the daily Paris-Los Angeles flight on Air Tahiti Nui. These contracts are signed for five years in the catering department and three years for cleaning. Northwest Airlines has also renewed its partnership with Servair by signing another three-year catering and cleaning contract for its Paris-Detroit flight.

* LOGAIR obtains ISO 9001v 2000 certification.
LOGAIR, a common subsidiary of Servair and Aéroboutique Inflight Retail (A.I.R), specialised in onboard duty free sales management just obtained ISO 9001 version 2000 certification. LOGAIR is the 16 SERVAIR’s entity to obtain certification.

 

* THALES has been awarded a contract by the National Air Navigation Services Company to supply Egypt’s busiest airport with Thales’ Terminal Coordination (TECOS) and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems.
The TECOS system, is a flight data system that provides air controllers with a quicker and more efficient way of communicating and coordinating flight information in the terminal area. This system combined with the CCTV system for video surveillance will provide Cairo air traffic controllers with a “big picture” view of ground operations, from landing to parking and parking to take off.

* Schneider Electric has just been awarded a EUR 1.140 M€ contract with Cegelec Comsip for all MV and LV Electrical Distribution in the new terminal at Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers. This terminal will open to the public in January 2006. The scope of supply covers the following offers: Mcset cubicles, transformers, Okken and capacitors banks. The key factors for this success are the special relationships we have had with the main players in Algeria and France and also the very good coordination between all the involved Schneider Electric sales forces in France and in Algeria.

 

* THALES - Vilnius International Airport in Lithuania awarded Thales a EUR2.6 million contract to modernise and replace landing systems. The European Union would cover one-third of the cost of the project.

July 2005

 

Schneider Electric Brazil signed a first 500 K€ contract with Infraero, operator of the main airports in Brazil, for the extension of the Rio de Janeiro's Santos Dumont airport, the fifth biggest airport of Brazil (5.5 million passengers per year). Schneider Electric will provide the comprehensive Electrical Distribution package (MV and LV)
- 7 SM6 cubicles 13,8kV - 630A-20kA, with 52 colums, with 35 breakers SF1, 23 Sepam 1000 serie20/40, 12 Serie 80
- 5 Blokset cubicles IP31-50kA-1500A-forma 3 (25 colums with Masterpact and Compact) as well as 50k€ for various services (commissioning, installation, ...).

 

* THALES - Navoï Airport in Uzbekistan awarded Thales and Aysel Consortium a contract to install the Eurocat Air Traffic Management System at the airport. The technology, in conjunction with radar systems, will automatically detect and label aircraft and help air traffic controllers effectively manage congestion.

June 2005

 

* SOFREAVIA supports Sakaeronavigatsia, the air traffic service provider of Georgia, in its CNS/ATM infrastructure modernization efforts and assists the organization with the development of a strategic business plan to help making it a leading air navigation service provider. Sakaeronavigatsia benefits from the latest in radar systems and carries on a comprehensive refurbishment programme that includes the replacement of VHF stations and Instrument Landing Systems. The organization also commissioned a state-of-the-art ATC system to equip its area traffic control centre in Tbilisithat will be put in operation in the coming months.

* Sofreavia - in partnership with SSBASE (Service Spécial des Bases Aériennes Sud-Est) - has been awarded the construction works supervision contract for new aprons at Marseilles Airport. The contract comprises:
- construction of nose-in parking stands (38 000 m² estimated new apron);
- reinforcement, 3000 m² extension and redevelopment of another apron;
- construction of new aeronautical pavements (3700 m²);
- construction of new aeronautical pavements (500 m²) for GSE appliances;
- rehabilitation of 2000m² of existing pavements for appliances storage.

 

* ALSTEF : After Orly Ouest and South, Aéroports de Paris renews its confidence in Alstef for the baggage handling system at departure of Terminal 3 in Charles de Gaulle airport. The new project will be carried out in two phases :
1- complete integration of a 100% Hold baggage screening in Hall B. The installation will include 22 check-in desks plus two out of gauge, and two ALSTEF linear motor carrousels for the manual sortation.
2- total renewal of the control command system of the 100% HBS in Hall A. An ergonomic supervision system should also be integrated, based on PC Vue, linking the Halls A and B.
The first phase (Hall B) is scheduled to be in operation at the end of April 2006 at the latest, the works in Hall A will start just after and should last 8 months.

 

* THALES - UK National Air Traffic Services announced the implementation of Thales' Radio Interface & Control Equipment system. The new system is designed to remotely control and monitor the complete air traffic control area coverage radio system for the UK, while providing audio management.

* THALES - US FAA awarded Thales a 12-year contract for the production of an advanced Instrument Landing System, Thales ILS 420. As part of the USD60 million contract, 3 first article systems will be developed and tested to FAA specifications. Thales will then produce up to 300 ILS 420 systems over a six-year period.

* Thales will supply an advanced ATM system to manage air traffic for new Muan International Airport, Republic of Korea. The system will include a high-performance STAR 2000 primary radar associated with an RSM 970 Mode S MSSR and a EUROCAT system covering 16 working positions.

 

* ADP - Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) has extended a management consultancy contract with Aeroports de Paris Management, for a further three years. ADP was awarded a five year management contract at the time of BCIA's initial public offering in February 2000. ADP initially acquired a 10% holding which has since been diluted to 6.6%. Under the new contract, ADP will advise on the ongoing development of the airport ahead of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

* SAGEM - Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport commenced testing an experimental biometric border control system at Border Police checkpoints over a 6-month period at terminal F2. The Automated Border Passage System (PEGASE) developed by the SAGEM Group will aim at simplifying and tightening security at border control checkpoints.

 

* ADP.i - The provisional drawings for a terminal at Kolkata International Airport have been submitted to the Airports Authority of India by ADP.i Architects & Engineers. The 50-ft structure will be made of steel, glass and reinforced glass panels would be used to make walls. The roof will be made of steel mesh supported by large spans. The designers are trying to make space for at least five boarding bridges. The total cost of the project is INR 1 billion. After the design is finalized, AAI will float tenders in two to three months. Construction will take 30-36 months and spread over three phases.

April 2005

 

* SAGEM has consolidated its leading position in multibiometrics through several significant contracts with the U.K. (identification systems based on fingerprints for the police, iris identification for British Airports passengers), with Australia (face recognition), the Netherlands (multibiometric passports), and with ADP - Paris Airports (access control for employees).

 

* IER - ARINC Inc. will install new IER self-service automatic boarding gates for Munich Airport's Terminal 2. It is the first time IER Quick Boarding Gates have been integrated into a common-use passenger system. The new gates will also simplify boarding for the majority of Lufthansa passengers who use electronic tickets. They will be able to board flights by inserting magnetic boarding passes in the gate.

 

* THALES has been awarded a further three contracts by the CAAC to provide six en-route secondary radars in China's Eastern corridor, as part of the ongoing upgrade of civil aviation infrastructure. Thales will supply its RSM 970S monopulse secondary surveillance radar in Zhanjiang, Baise, Chongqing, Shanghai, Xiangfan and Zhangjiajie.

* THALES has completed the site acceptance tests for the Croatian Air Traffic Management system in Zagreb. CroATMS is the largest project undertaken by Croatia Control LtD. The contract provides a fully integrated air traffic management system, Eurocat, to control the en-route, approach and tower air traffic.

* The Presidency of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia awarded a USD40 million turnkey contract to THALES for a nationwide EUROCAT air traffic management system. Thales will supply air traffic en-route control centres for Riyadh and Jeddah and approach control centres for Riyadh, Jeddah and Madinah, covering about 50 controllers working positions over seven sites.

 

* SOFREAVIA - In 2004, the Irish Aviation Authority chose Sofreavia and Airways International (New Zealand) to advise them on a suitable strategy for the coming years. Sofreavia made a fundamental review of the airspace design and organization of services that concluded with radical proposals to optimize them durably. The recommendations address the overall airspace structure, the route network, the overall flow management, the Dublin approach procedures, and the sectorization. The study investigated also different reorganization options for the centres taking the various site locations into account.

 

* ALSTEF has been awarded by ADP the contract for the departure lines 9 and 10 of the Baggage handling system at Orly Sud. The installation consists in 14 check-in desks for the standard size baggages, 2 integrated control lines, 2 manual sortation lines, tomography machine. The order includes a 2 years maintenance contract. The installation must be available for the airlines in June 2005.

* ALSTEF - ATATÜRK International airport of Istanbul will be equipped with a new handling system for the baggages in transfer. In this view T.A.V. (Tepe Akfen) the airport operator has chosen ALSTEF to realise the re-check in for the baggages in transfer with 5 check-in desks, a conveyor line, a manual sortation carrousel and the transfer line by integration of two new lines linked to the existing installation.

* From March 8th to 10th, PROAVIA organized a Seminar with the French Trade Commission in Tripoli, Libya with companies ADPi, ADP TELECOM, SIDES, SEEE, THALES, DEGREANE, SERVAIR in order to meet Libyan Airport and Civil Aviation Autorities.

 

* THALES - Sweden’s LFV Group put the new Thales EUROCAT air traffic management system into operational use. This new system, called ‘System 2000’, is part of LFV’s ‘MATS’ programme. LFV has deployed the EUROCAT system at the Stockholm and Malmö control centres and has connected 13 control towers to both centres.

 

* BAA will implement IER self-service check-in kiosks at its 7 UK airports over the next five years. The plan is part of BAA's IT renewal programme and follows a successful pilot project at Heathrow with Japan Airlines, Air Canada and Gulf Air. The kiosks will have common-use solutions allowing several airlines to share one kiosk.

* PROAVIA attended the 'Passenger Terminal Expo' in Köln, Germany from 22 th to 24th of February 2005. PROAVIA members exhibiting were ADPi, ALTIUS GROUP, CADDIE, CNIM, IER, FABRICOM and STERIA.

 

* FABRICOM Airport Systems Inc. (FAS) has completed the installation of a true, 100% inline HBS (hold baggage system) at Alaska's Anchorage International Airport, the design of which has virtually eliminated the need for conventional check-in counters. The airport's new USD 120 million Concourse C houses Alaska Airlines and features a unique layout that centres on a two-step process of passenger check-in.

 

* Royal Air Maroc has selected IER 978 self-service kiosks equipped with the Common Use Self-Service platform to implement self-check-in at Casablanca Airport. This project will be the first installation of CUSS self-service kiosks in the North African region.

 

* Montpellier Airport has chosen ADP Télécom to develop Wi-Fi services throughout the airport. With 1.5 million passengers in 2004, this continually expanding airport complex is one of the largest in France. With a hotspot of this size, it is essential that a wide range of applications, such as on-the-go Internet access for passengers, are managed concurrently, while also ensuring that security and quality are guaranteed. ADP Télécom, the telecommunications operator for the airport sector who will operate and develop the service, will provide the Montpellier Méditerranée Airport with a solution to meet all of the general public needs at the site.
Operational from today, 8 access points cover the departure and arrival halls, boarding lounges, bars, and restaurants as well as the business center.

* SOFREAVIA will display the latest versions of its well-known and operational products at ATC Maastricht. Exhibits on display will focus on:
- MAESTRO AMAN/DMAN, the first and unique integrated Arrival and Departure Flight Management Solution for terminal air traffic management. The Maestro solution has been recently chosen to be implemented in Bangkok, Helsinki and Sydney Airports and at Tampere, Melbourne and Brisbane En-route Control Centres.
- ATALIS 2, the complete and coherent Aeronautical Information Management System for automated aeronautical information services and air traffic services, including several functional units. The Atalis 2 solution has been recently chosen to be implemented in Deauville, Beirut, Larnaca, Paphos and several regional airports in Egypt and Kenya.
- SCANSIM 2, the comprehensive and modular PC-based family of ATC training simulators. The SCANSIM 2 solution has been recently chosen to be implemented in 2004 at the French National School of Civil Aviation and in 2003 in Qatar, Sudan, and South Africa.
- RITA 2, the ACAS (Aircraft Collision Avoidance System) training tool for air traffic controllers and pilots.

 

Alcatel has been awarded a 41 million euro contract by the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation to supply, integrate and deploy the telecommunications and security systems for the Dubai International Airport's expansion project.
The Dubai Department of Civil Aviation has begun the second phase of its expansion program, related to the construction of Terminal 3, Concourse 2 and a car park, all dedicated for the Emirates airline and a large cargo terminal. The construction work is to be completed in mid-2007. The airport will have the capacity to handle close to 70 million passengers a year, a significant increase from its current capacity of 22 million. This expansion will position the Dubai International Airport as the leading airport in the region.
Alcatel is part of the consortium led by Thermo L.L.C., which was awarded the overall project as well as the supply of all specialized airport systems together with Arinc. Alcatel will supply, integrate and deploy security and access control systems, closed-circuit TV, radiating cable for the extension of the existing TETRA system, a master antenna system for an entertainment distribution network, and an overall structured cabling network connecting all systems over 7,000 kilometres. The overall value of the consortium contract is 370 million euros.

 

* THALES supplied Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Service Agency three primary radars and of two secondary radars, as part of the air traffic management modernisation programme.

* THALES' A-SMGCS is now fully operational at Munich Airport. The system provides apron and tower controllers integrated traffic information, covering movements of aircraft and vehicles on aprons, taxiways and runways. The system also alerts controllers of possible aircraft conflicts and runway incursions.

* Presidency of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia awarded THALES a USD40 million contract to supply the EUROCAT air traffic management system. The system will be installed at air traffic en-route control centres for Riyadh and Jeddah and approach control centres for Riyadh, Jeddah and Madinah, covering approximately 50 air traffic controllers over seven sites.

* IER - Estonian Air customers can now go for a very quick check-in with the new self-service kiosks deployed at Tallinn Airport since mid-October 2004. The airline chose IER of France to supply three self-service kiosks and the IER CUSS software and middleware toolkit, with which Sabre developed the remote check-in application for the kiosks.

* IER - Lufthansa opened two new automated boarding gates dedicated to e-ticketed passengers only designed and installed by IER. After a two months trial period, Lufthansa will make a decision about their deployment throughout its Munich Airport hub. This solution, integrating a totally new boarding pass reader into an automated gate, was jointly developed and manufactured by IER and its subsidiary Automatic Systems, a specialist in access control systems with the participation of the customer.

 

The Brest Bretagne Airport selects AéroSMS, the flight information system operated by ADP Télécom. Already in 2003, ADP Télécom was the first operator to offer passengers a flight information system : AéroSMS. This innovative service was designed for passengers taking a plane at the Brest Airport as well as for friends and family who were to pick up a passenger. This service was available for the very first time outside of the airports within the Paris region (Aéroports de Paris).
This passenger information service is available for all regular flights departing and arriving at the Brest Airport. All the passenger has to do is send a simple SMS to 73321 from his cell phone with his flight number, followed by the letter A (for Arrival) or D (for Departure). He will then obtain the following information:
• For departing flights: the estimated time of departure, terminal, baggage registration desk and boarding gate, etc.;
• For arriving flights: the estimated time of arrival, terminal, baggage claim area and exit gate, etc.;
• In the event of any modifications : cancellation, delay, re-routing or rescheduling of the flight.

 

* THALES supplied Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) one RSM 970S monopulse secondary surveillance radar with full Mode S capability to be installed on HAL's Nasik Airport. The contract also comprises two air traffic workstations to control the trial flights of the Sukkoi SU-30 new generation fighter aircraft manufactured by HAL.

* THALES - The reception ceremony of the new Algerian air traffic management system, supplied by Thales, took place in Algiers on 10 January 2005. This nationwide system provides Algeria with the very latest ATM technologies.

 

* THALES ATM - Airservices Australia has awarded a contract to Thales ATM for the provision of 57 AS 680 ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast) Ground Stations, to be located at 28 sites. The nationwide programme, to provide ADS-B coverage in Australian Upper Airspace, will complement the existing enroute and terminal radar coverage in Australia and is the first wide scale implementation of ADS-B to be undertaken by an Air Navigation Service Provider.
