CS - Communications & Systems Thanks to its know-how, CS has a leading position in the ATC technology environment. For more than 30 years, CS contributes to the development of Air Traffic control, Aerospace, and Defence products and systems within its “Critical Systems” branch.
With more than 300 engineers in ATC segment, CS group has developed an added value network all over the world. CS deploys innovative solutions, thanks to its systems expertise, high technology products and its partnerships with leading operators.
CS group is present in 60 countries, and export represents 20% of its consolidated sales (turnover: 350 million Euros).
CS Solutions As a civil and military systems integrator, CS has developed a broad base skill in industrial telecommunications, radio communications, real time data processing and security.
ATC Centers and Airport Systems CS designed, developed turn-key ATC small and medium
size systems, including radar and flight processing,
aeronautical and aerospace data management. CS is
in charge of full system engineering for fixed and mobile
aerodrome/ approach control centers that include
radar and flight plan processing, VCS and network.
ATC Simulation Domain CS offers STARLITE, a range
of modular simulators meeting the training needs
of tower, approach and en route controllers. Among
possible solutions:
• Tower simulator,
• Approach / En route simulator,
• Integrated Tower/Approach/En route simulator.
The visual system is tailored to each customer's needs
and implements the latest state-of-theart technology.
Voice Communications Systems CS supplies a full range of Voice Communication solutions
(VCS), namely:
• SAF 3000 the top of range item is used for radio
channel, telephone & intercommunication management,
and addresses medium & large ATC centres. The
system is based on the most advanced CS radio
switch, a COTS telephone switch, and CS Remote
Control Units. Derived from systems already in operation
in France, this system has also been chosen to
equip NATO ACCS centres. • SAF 1000 and 2000 for Small & Medium Airport
Solutions: CS (SAF) has a full range of accessible solutions
from 2 operators x 2 channels capability until a
combination of 8 operators x 8 channels, to combine
airport needs and VCS. Solutions are already used in“Aéroport de Paris”, and all over France and Africa.
• Voice P@ck: full software VCS solution designed for
simulation.
SAF Safety products comprise solutions to complement
a system with the back-up intercom.
SAF1000 or 2000 can also be used as back-up radio
system. For VCS operator terminals, CS proposes several
possible solutions, from button board to touch
screen terminals.
SAF 3000 and Voice P@ck solutions are based
on the most recent technology: Digital Voice, Open
Sources OS and Web Services.
Services CS organises the optimised integrated logistic support
for each contract. Depending on needs, a wide range
of services can be proposed, from a minimal support
to a full support and maintenance, and even to the
facility management and operation of the system.
CS participates in various European ATM projects and
preliminary studies prior to large-scale implementation.
CS is a major supplier of consulting & software development
services to organisations, such as EUROCONTROL,
DSNA, CENA and Belgocontrol. CS is member of
EUROCAé.
CS extends its competencies from future concept
assessment (through modelling and simulation, e.g.
autonomous aircraft feasibility studies) to development
of brand new systems.
Voice Communication Systems
CS supplies Back-up systems to Belgocontrol and
Skyguide. CS works as prime contractor for Artemis,
the telephone and radio communication systems of
the five French En-Route Control Centres. Similarly
CS solutions are implemented on all military CRC,
Airbases, and Gateways. The Voice P@ck product is in
use with ADP, CENA and on simulation platforms. CAM
GmbH, German subsidiary of CS, has delivered VCS
to EUROCONTROL Maastricht centre, and performed
ATC system engineering support to DFS.
ATC Centre integration
The French MOD (DGA) trusts CS for leading the modernisation
of the military Control Center within the
Space Centre of Kourou (French Guyana) and the
modernisation of the approach/tower control centres
for the French Navy (Nîmes-Garons, Toulon-Hyères)
and Air Force bases, that involve controllers and technicians
training centers. CS has been in charge of the
modernisation of many approach/ tower systems of
French civil airports (Roissy, Toulouse, Bordeaux,
Montpellier, Tahiti, Noumea…) and in the world (Berlin,
Basel, Morocco, Tunisia, Niger, Ivory Coast, Tchad,
Guinea, Nepal…). Training Simulators
In partnership with EADS, CS has developed the powerful
Tower simulator to enable ATC training for Paris
Roissy and Orly Airport. This top range simulator,
fitted with 360° airfield and traffic display, is operational
since 1999. The Turkish Civil Aviation Authority
(DHMI) uses a similar simulator as well for the new
Ankara Training centre. CS is now developping a new
generation simulator based on HLA that allow a distributed
consistent simulation. The first simulation
center of that kind will operate in 2006 with 3
approaches and 2 towers.
Services
EUROCONTROL trusts CS for performing the facility
management of all computers and LANs in Brétigny
experimental center.
Since 1997, CS is leading a consortium for providing
support to R&D studies to EEC. Within Conectis consortium,
CS is also in charge of the technical assistance
to Eurocontrol HQ.
CS has been selected by Belgocontrol to participate
in the implementation of AMS, a real time system
for planning and controlling aircraft movement at
Brussels airport.
