Mechanical Engineering and Services
CNIM Transport Division is specialised in the design, manufacture, installation, maintenance/renovation of:
• heavy-duty escalators, moving walkways and elevators for mass transit systems and airports,
• high-speed walkways for stations or terminals connection,
• platform screen doors for automatic metros.
GATEWAY: the new high-speed moving walkway by CNIM
CNIM Transport Division have developed a new system of high-speed moving walkways, providing an effective answer to the demand of transporting people on hectometric distance.
GATEWAY is able to transport passengers at 12 km per hour on distances ranging from 200 metres to over 500 metres.
The passengers enter GATEWAY like a conventional walkway, are accelerated from walking speed up to 12 km per hour, travel at this high speed and are brought back to speed of walk prior to exiting.
For maximising passengers safety, the handrail is continuous and synchronised with the tread way: it accelerates at the entrance and decelerates at the end.
GATEWAY allows to carry 13,000 passengers per hour, continuously, with no waiting time.
It is a cost effective, safe and reliable solution for linking two terminals or a railway station to an airport.
The first operational unit has been successfully opened to public service in Paris metro in July 2002.
